Privacy Notice for the MuseChain Forum

Effective October 6, 2026

This notice explains how the MuseChain community forum at forum.musechain.lol (the “forum”) handles information. The forum is operated by PM Data Services (“we”, “us”). Questions and requests: send @moderators a personal message.

The MuseChain website, the MuseScan explorer and the MuseChain connector are covered by a separate privacy policy. Forum accounts and posts are stored by the forum. They are not blockchain transactions, and a forum account is not a wallet.

Reading and signing in

You can read public discussions without an account or a wallet. Posting requires a forum account. New accounts are closed for now; we will announce in the Announcements category when invitations open.

You sign in with Discourse ID, a sign-in service run by Civilized Discourse Construction Kit, Inc. (CDCK), the company behind the Discourse forum software. Discourse ID handles its own sign-in process under its own privacy policy. When you sign in, Discourse ID sends the forum a unique account identifier and your email address and, if you have them, a username, a display name and a profile picture. The forum does not keep a separate forum password for you.

What other people can see

Anyone, including visitors without an account and search engines, can see public posts and replies, earlier versions of edited posts (edit history), uploads in public posts, your username, display name and profile picture, and anything you add to your public profile. The forum also shows your activity, such as when you joined and were last seen, reading time, days visited, posts read, likes given and received, badges and trust level, on your profile and in the public user directory, and it shows other members when you are replying to a topic. Others can copy or quote public content, and those copies can remain after something is removed from the forum. You can hide your public profile and your presence in your preferences, which hides most of this. Your email address is not shown publicly.

Personal messages are visible to the people in the conversation. They are not end-to-end encrypted: forum administrators can access them, for example to handle a report. Staff-only areas, flags and reports are visible only to staff.

Files attached to personal messages or staff-only posts are stored at hard-to-guess web addresses that are not password-protected; anyone who obtains a link can open the file. Do not attach sensitive files.

Do not post private keys, recovery phrases, passphrases, unused invitation codes, or anyone else’s private information.

What the forum records and why

The forum stores your account and profile, your posts and their edit history, uploads, likes, bookmarks, reading and notification status, flags you make, and moderation records. Like most websites, it also records technical information about requests, such as IP addresses, times, pages requested and browser details. It also stores IP addresses linked to your account, such as the one used when the account was created, the most recent one, and those of your signed-in sessions.

We use this information to run the forum (conversations, profiles, search and notifications), to keep accounts secure, to fight spam and abuse, to moderate, and to answer support requests. Administrators can see account details, including email addresses. Staff (administrators and moderators) can see IP addresses so they can protect the forum. We do not sell forum information, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

Cookies and browser storage

The forum uses the cookies it needs to work: a session cookie, a sign-in cookie while you are logged in, short-lived cookies used during sign-in, and cookies that remember display choices you make on a device (such as theme or text size). Some other preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage. We have not added advertising or third-party analytics trackers. Discourse ID’s own pages follow its own privacy policy.

Services we use

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts the forum server, its daily backups and its disk snapshots in the AWS US East (Ohio) region.
  • Cloudflare provides DNS for musechain.lol. Forum traffic goes directly to the forum server; it is not routed through Cloudflare’s proxy.
  • CDCK provides Discourse ID sign-in.
  • Gravatar: the forum software can check Gravatar, a third-party profile picture service, for a picture linked to your email address. It sends Gravatar a hash of the address (a code made from it that anyone who already knows the address can match), not the address itself.
  • When you post a link or an image, the forum server may fetch it to show a preview or to keep a local copy of the image.

These providers may process some information in other places under their own terms.

The forum does not send email: there are no notification emails, digests or replies by email. Personal messages you send to @moderators are stored on the forum and used to answer you.

Who can see non-public information

Apart from the people in a personal message and the attached-file limits described above, only forum administrators and moderators, for their duties, and service providers as needed to provide their services. If a government or anyone else asks us for non-public information, we will check their identity, legal authority and the scope of the request, disclose only what the law requires and what we actually hold, get legal advice when needed, and tell the affected users when the law allows.

How long we keep information

We have not set fixed deletion periods for every kind of record. Accounts, posts and their edit history stay until they are deleted or the account is anonymized. Technical and moderation records are kept by the forum software; some are cleaned up automatically and others stay until they are deleted.

The forum is set to make a daily backup, including uploaded files, and to keep up to seven of them in private storage. Something deleted from the forum can remain in those backups until they are replaced. We also keep occasional full copies of the server’s disk (snapshots) in the same AWS region, and a private recovery copy of a backup stored outside AWS. These are kept until they are replaced or deleted. When you ask us to delete information, we will tell you what may remain in these copies.

Your choices and requests

To ask for access, correction, a copy, deletion, or anything about moderation, send @moderators a personal message. We may ask for enough information to confirm the request is yours, but we will never ask for a private key, recovery phrase or password.

You can edit your profile at any time, and your own posts for a limited time after posting (24 hours for new members by default). For anything older, send @moderators a personal message. Deleting an account may be done by anonymizing it: your posts can stay under an anonymous name, and identifying details inside posts or quotes may remain unless they are removed too. This is not a promise of complete erasure. Your Discourse ID account is separate; requests about it may need to go to CDCK.

Nothing in this notice limits rights you have under applicable law.

Changes

We will post changes here with a new effective date and announce material changes in the Announcements category.
